Mark England:Landscapes: Perception & Time

Mark England’s exhibition explores how we perceive and impose our values on landscapes, layering elements of the past, present, and future through juxtapositions of unrelated buildings and events. His paintings, grounded in real places and incorporating traditional art subjects, challenge cultural and visual expectations by altering perspectives and scales, offering fresh viewpoints on history and reality.

Mark England, raised in California and Minnesota, earned an M.F.A. in painting in Utah, where his love of landscapes and art flourished through exploration and study. While raising four children, designing homes, and launching a successful gelato shop in Salt Lake City, he continued to pursue his passion for painting, revealing a unique perspective on geography, society, and humanity.

Marissa Albrecht: En Route

Marissa Albrecht’s exhibition features collages, assemblages, and installations that blend found materials and photographs, exploring space, time, and human connection to highlight life’s transitional nature. Through visual elements like parcels, cargo, and construction materials, the series captures human anticipation and the quest for progress, balancing the ordinary with the profound.

Marissa Albrecht, a mixed-media artist based in Orem, Utah, specializes in collage and mobile photography, drawing inspiration from her travel studies across various cities. Her practice centers on uncovering fragments from everyday life, while she also dedicates herself to teaching drawing, painting, and design courses as an adjunct instructor at BYU and UVU.

Finch Lane Gallery is free of charge and open to the public Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (open Tuesday till 8:30pm).
