On a personal note, as our first year closes we want to share how much we cherish the unforgettable battles, special communities, and wonderful people we've met on 6 continents this year. Especially the (oft behind the scenes) local tournament organizers & the extraordinary folks who enrich this community with tools & invaluable resources. Tens of thousands came to do battle in the Arena in 2019. Despite some growing pains along the way (🚒) we're incredibly grateful and proud of how rapidly the Arena is evolving. And the best part is: things only keep getting better!

Happy New Year from all of us at the Silph Arena. Here's to 2020! 🥂 May it be filled with glorious victories as we seek the one who's truly the very best and write Pokémon GO history together. 🎉

It's time to turn up the heat! 🔥 🔥

🎉 Now Accepting Host Applications for 2020 Regionals! 🎉
Regionals are high-level, invite-only tournaments held in April where the strongest competitors across multiple communities are given a chance to advance on the path to World Champion by earning a coveted invite to compete at the elite Continental Championships. Over 200 Regional Invitational locations will field competitors this April.

These events are hosted by authorized volunteer community hosts, who provide a valuable service to competitors in their region through hosting this high-level competitive event!

We invite all Silph League communities to consider applying to host! Host applications will be open today through Jan 31st and hosts will be notified of their application status by Feb 15th. *We must receive a host application in order for an Invitational to be hosted in an area!*

Co-Hosting Communities:
This season, communities have the option of cohosting a Regional Invitational with a neighboring community. All communities cohosting must submit their own application and note who they are cohosting with.

Full details and the Host Application Form:
https://silph.gg/2020-regional-invitationals-host-application

We hope to provide an Invitational event within reasonable travel distance in every region where Arena competitors battle, so we need help from communities from all over the world to make this experience possible in each region!

The Arena team has been working hard since last season to make sure 2020 Regionals will be an exciting, high-level battlefield. Help us put on this phenomenal event in your area!

Two updates this evening from the Arena team:

1. Improved Rank Algorithm: Now Live!
🥇 🥈 🥉
We're always looking for ways to make the Arena's competitor rank algorithms more intelligent. This evening a few improvements landed which help the Arena better assess your performance according to the rank criteria outlined in the official resources: https://silph.gg/guide-to-rank.

Most will find they have *benefited* in their progression up the Arena's Player Tier ladder! Indeed, this evening we've gained our first batch of Aces(!) this Season, as well as many new Challengers and Rivals. Go check your Travelers Card to see how you stack up in the improved rankings!

⚖️ Our Legislation Team has been working very hard reviewing misconduct reports and taking appropriate actions. Many who have been knowingly violating the rules of the Arena were removed from the leaderboard just prior to this algorithm update, and many more are still under active investigation. As always, you can aid the Legislation team in providing a fair playing field by submitting evidence of misconduct (https://silph.gg/misconduct). If you see anyone from the Legislation team out and about, buy those folks a drink for their hard work doing the thankless job of keeping the playing field fair for us all!

2. Photo Contest Entries Due: Jan 13th!
📷 📸
The photo contest submission deadline has been extended to allow for shots of tournaments happening this weekend! Submit candid photos of PvP tournaments by Jan 13th for a chance to earn PokeCoins and a Photobug Badge! Details at: https://silph.gg/calling-all-photo-bugs

We hope you were proud of your performance in the Timeless Cup and wish you the best of luck as you prepare for (one of our favorite metas ever) Fusion!

Silph League - Announcements

It is time! The Arena is thrilled to announce this morning that we're unveiling a powerful new resource to help you conquer GO Battle League. What's in the box? Some game-changers for new PvP players and veterans alike. Take a look!

🔥 1. 3v3 Battle Team Rankings!
After great efforts (and insane processing requirements!) the performance of roughly *half a million Battle Teams per League* have been analyzed, compared, and ranked to provide a uniquely useful resource: the most powerful teams of 3 in Great, Ultra, and Master League! These calculations build on PvPoke.com's amazing 1v1 rankings to analyze full Battle Teams *as a unit* - and the outcome is the starting point many beginners have been searching for. (Shoutout to PvPoke for the help!)

📈 2. Live Arena Data: Most *Popular* Teams!
*Also* for the first time, the Arena is exposing data on the most frequently seen Battle Teams in ranked open Great/Ultra/Master League tournaments!

🧠 3. Basics: "Getting Into PvP" Guide!
On each of the new League pages, we've included a new (really great) guide introducing the basics of PvP aimed at newcomers struggling with GO Battle League.

4. Highlighted Resources!
We've also sought the best resources for Great, Ultra, and Master League and have collected them into a Resource Highlights section for easy reference.

We know many newcomers are feeling overwhelmed or discouraged trying to build their GBL teams. We hope these resources will give them the confidence boost to stick with it and jump into the competitive PvP community.

We hope you enjoy your new tools. They're a labor of love from the Arena to you! Help spread the word to those in your community - and good luck!
